The Construction Source Australia

THE CONSTRUC T I ON SOURCE AUSTRAL I A way to streamlining our builds.” In their pursuit of speed, however, Dion Group does not compromise on quality. No matter how fast they are moving, they make sure they conduct what they call ‘critical stage inspections’ before and after major project milestones, such as concreting, framing, roofing and painting. George says there about 10 of those inspections on every project, and their team takes them “very, very seriously.” Those inspections are conducted by Dion Group’s team of in-house supervisors and project managers. Those team members were all trained by George personally, and they were instilled with his obsessive attention to detail. George credits the company’s consistency to their diligence: “They are really high-energy, high-performing individuals,” he says. “They pay a lot of attention to detail and they’re always looking out for the best interests of the project. They make sure they pick up on defects before they become defects.” That intensive and early quality control also contributes to saving time and money. By identifying potential mistakes when they happen, and resolving them right away, the company doesn’t have to get bogged down later, when addressing the problem would be a lot more costly. “It all comes back to the systems we have in place,” George says. “We’ve looked at all the stages of a project, we’ve identified where the defects usually take place, and we’ve implemented a system where we can find them and fix them before they can become a bigger problem.” “There’s always human error throughout construction,” he adds. “That’s inevitable. But if the errors are picked up before the next trade starts, they can be resolved then and there. That also goes a long way to streamlining our builds.”
