Gamma Illumination | 3 Based in New SouthWales, and with offices in every capital city of Australia, Gamma Illumination is a leading commercial and architectural lighting manufacturer. Their team, shaped over the past 27 years, focus on providing quality products and service to their consumers. Gamma Illumination has grown to be a leader in both domestic and international lighting markets through its commitment to innovation, the environment and its consumers. “Our mission is to create tomorrow’s lighting solutions from today’s resources,” says Michael Calabro, Managing Director. “We have a long-standing reputation for delivering on that mission all over the world.” After working for three other lighting companies, Calabro founded Gamma Illumination in 1986. He began by developing a range of 22 halogen light fittings, producing a catalogue, and calling upon some distributors he knew from the industry at that time. With over 60 employees, 5,000 lighting products, and an established export market including Europe, China, the Middle East, and Asia, today Gamma Illumination is one of Australia’s leading commercial and architectural lighting manufacturers
4 | Gamma Illumination UNSURPASSED QUALITY In recent years, Gamma Illumination has fit out a number of commercial and retail centres, working on replacing existing lighting with their innovative range of LED luminaries that improve performance, efficiency and longevity. Some of their notable projects have been for Woolworths, Dan Murphy, BP, United Petroleum, Fiona Stanley Hospital, Nike, Fitness First and Vodafone. “There are a number of brands that purchase our LED lighting because it’s Australian-made and it performs – and we can guarantee our product’s performance,” Calabro says. Calabro credits the company’s success to the quality of their lighting. Gamma Illumination’s LED lighting range is characterised by reliability and sustainability; with a proven negligible failure rate of less than 0.0002% within the past two years. “It is easy to see why some simply cannot compete with Gamma Illumination’s quality,” Calabro says. “With inferior LED lighting products, you just don’t know what you’re getting,” he adds. “You don’t know how long it will last, you don’t know what type of LED is used, and you don’t know if the driver is compatible, or whether the driver meets Australian Standards.” Manufactured domestically at “a quality unsurpassed by none,” Gamma Illumination uses
Gamma Illumination | 5 high quality LED modules with drivers designed in house. Thousands of successful and sustainable installations prove that Gamma Illumination’s products perform. That performance, Calabro adds, is the reason Gamma has formed lasting relationships with their consumers. “Your product has to perform the way it’s supposed to, and you have to deliver when they want,” he says. “That’s how you keep those relationships strong.” “When a lighting order is received, customers expect the order to be supplied in less than two weeks. We keep our customers because we’re able to tailor our products, and supply variations for our clients’ solutions, which are complete and on time.” Gamma Illumination’s service continues post-supply, where customer and technical support is offered. COMMITTED TO INNOVATION Over the years, Gamma Illumination has remained a strong manufacturing leader. Calabro again credits this leadership to the company’s products and service, but also stresses the importance of innovation. Gamma Illumination maintains an internal research and development team with an extensive, state-of-the-art ‘Research and Development Centre.’ In a newly formed partnership with Sharp, Michael Calabro, Managing Director.

Gamma Illumination | 7 Gamma Illumination is developing an innovative range of LED products soon to be released to an international market. The company is continuously investing in innovation, thus exemplified by their new purpose-built facility where photometric, electrical, thermal and LED testing is conducted. Included at this facility is an in-house industrial design team responsible for product research and development. Gamma Illumination’s investment will continue as the company deploys two high speed in-house SMT lines, and two robotic assembly and laser soldering lines at their production facility located in Sydney. This will improve efficiency and increase capacity, further cementing their market leading position. “We are constantly expanding our operations, because that’s the only way to move forward. We find that companies who do not commit to innovation and development stagnate.” Calabro predicts that Gamma Illumination will continue to innovate and grow, by upgrading their equipment and facilities as technologies evolve, and delivering the high quality products and service Gamma Illumination is recognised for.
