2 | Inaphase Inaphase has been providing a professional service to the interior fit-out and refurbishment industry since they were first established almost 15 years ago. In the time since, they have always made client satisfaction an overriding priority. This dedication has paid off time and time again in the form of repeat business, customer testimonials, and industry accolades. “We’re all about delivering great projects that represent true value for the client,” says Neil Blundell, co-founder and Director. Neil – along with fellow Director and co-founder Scott Shead – established Inaphase in 2000. Prior to then, they both had

A BOUTIQUE BUILDER Today, Inaphase have established a respect-

However, Neil says their scope of operations is determined by their clients needs. “Our business is based on what and where our clients needs are, and we’ll go wherever and whenever to satisfy them,” he says. Those needs have seen Inaphase successfully complete projects in Lithgow, Newcastle and Melbourne. The majority of Inaphase’s portfolio consists of building refurbishment, renovations and upgrade works. The balance comes from the interior fitout, retail and education sectors. Over the years, they have completed more than 300 projects, mostly taking place in $500,000 to $2 million price range. However, Neil says that project price is really shaped by the needs of their clients. In fact, Neil believes that it is Inaphase’s ability to adapt and respond to their clients needs that sets them apart. “We’re a boutique builder delivering a high end product, so we’re not targeting a specific market,” he explains. “We really target what our client require and need from each and every project.” “Over the years we have had the opportunity to do some diverse and challenging

6 | Inaphase projects,” he continues. “We have had to draw from our experience to adapt and delivery each and every one. We make sure we understand the project brief and ensure we deliver.” A great deal of Inaphase’s projects involve working at the three operational airport terminals in Sydney. Their attention to detail and awareness of each and every stakeholder involved has allowed them to form some very strong long term relationships. “Many of our projects involve a whole list of stakeholders,” Neil explains. “We understand that they all have a business to do as well, and we have to try and fit in with that. I think we do it really well, and that’s another way we add value.” INDUSTRY RECOGNISED Inaphase’s dedication and commitment to their clients has naturally led them to deliver a long line of quality projects. That quality has consistently earned the company referrals and repeat business, as well as awards from peak industry body, the Master Builders Association (MBA). At the MBA’s 2013 Building Excellence Awards for New South Wales, Inaphase won two accolades in very competitive categories – Shop Fitouts $1,000,001 to $10,000,000 and Refurbishment / Renova-

In 2013, it was their Qantas Retail Development project that earned them the win. In their comments, MBA judges praised the consistency and the high standards of the finishes on that retail project. They also complimented Inaphase for working around the restrictions of an airport terminal. Specifically, they said that “credit must be given to the contractor for successfully completing the project under an extremely difficult environment.” The Refurbishment / Renovation / Extension Award was won with another challenging project – the QANTAS EM/ SEM (Engine Maintenance/ Small Engine Maintenance) Transition Project, which was undertaken within the Qantas Jet Base at Mascot. According to Neil, that project was a combination of new works and an upgrade of an existing facility, and was
Inaphase | 9 completed in a 22-week period. In that time, Inaphase encountered unforeseen problems, and had to do fast track additional work to meet program. Neil says they were able to overcome those difficulties due to detailed planning, as well as by staying in constant contact and communication with the various stakeholders – which Neil reiterates is a priority on all their jobs. “The key to the successful delivery of any project is to understand what the client’s expecting, and what the other stakeholders are expecting,” he explains. According to theMBA judges, the result on the Qantas Jet Base project was “a satisfied client with a facility that sets a benchmark for further work.” Neil further credits that result to the high quality of the company’s project team. He says that each project team is made up of both their direct staff and trusted subcontractors. Many of the people in both those groups have been working with Neil and Scott for more than five years, and some have even been working with Inaphase for over a decade. “Consistency of staff is important,” Neil says. “That ensures that we’re all like-minded in how we approach things, and we all have a similar understanding of how projects are supposed to work. And we all go
