During the years prior, Blair gained a broad range of project management experience – managing many high profile corporate fit outs and refurbishment projects for a long list of prominent clients. He met Alex while working together in Sydney, and the two decided to complement each other’s expertise and partner up to bring their own unique brand of high quality service to the industry – and to their clients. Alex brings more than 20 years of industry experience to his role. Their diverse portfolio consists of commercial fit out and refurbishment jobs, new builds and they have also earned a strong reputation in the medical and health industry. “We take a long-term view with all our clients,” Blair explains. “We don’t just want one project – we want to work with them for the next 20 years.” To earn that kind of loyalty, Blair says they act as if the interests of their clients are their own. The company also tries to provide a truly complete service. From involvement in the design stage and coordinating with the architectural design team, to cost planning, managing the processes to achieve the client’s brief, project objectives and developing solutions within budget constraints – through to the issue of the Certificate of Occupancy. In some cases even assisting in locating the right site. “Our clients tend to use us as a sounding board before the project even comes into play,” Blair says. “Which is very helpful in building mutually beneficial and ongoing relationships.” Blair and Alex have been working with many of their clients for years now – having

INDUSTRY RESPECT Mammoth’s aptitude for quality has not gone unnoticed. At the 2008 Master Builders Association of NSW Excellence in Construction Awards Mammoth won the award for Adaptive Re-Use of an Historic Building [up to $5 million], and more recently the 2013MBA award for Adaptive Re-Use of an Historic Building [up to $1 million] – awarded for their own office at L2, 2 Barrack Street in Sydney. “We value this acknowledgement very highly,” Blair says. “Having your own company winning awards for excellence in your chosen field is extremely gratifying.” “This recognition shows we can achieve a high level of quality in the marketplace,” he adds. “It demonstrates to our clients that we take a lot of pride in what we do, and instills in them the confidence that we can do the same for them.” Built in 1892, originally as a warehouse building, 2 Barrack Street is heritage listed. The property contains 12mm glazed office partitions, supported by steel portal frames with base plates fixed to the floor – protecting the heritage façade.The entrance to the office features a vertical garden, a sandstone and reclaimed timber reception, and a fossilised mammoth tusk mounted on the sandstone wall. According to Blair, creating a functional office work space whilst preserving the heritage features of the building presented quitea fewchallenges, butadds thecompany was able to overcome these thanks

They were able to look at the many different aspects of the projects they’ve completed over the years, and apply that combined knowledge to their own space. Blair also credits the project’s success to the hard work of the team– which includes both their direct staff, as well as their roster of subcontractors and suppliers. As with their clients, Blair says they take a long term view with everyone they work with. “Our people are our number one resource,” he explains. “We need to trust them implicitly, as they trust us. They know we’re going to support them in the long term– as a result we’ve got a great team that goes above and beyond on every project.” Moving forward, Blair says they want to maintain these long-lasting, open relationships with all their stakeholders. “The company’s team is the ‘lifeblood’ of the business, and by preserving that essence, we hope to continue our steady growth.” “We want to move forward and increase our workAustralia-wide, but we never want to risk losing the service and relationshipfocus we have with our clients,” Blair says. “We don’t want to lose that sense of ourselves.
