According to Craig, the scheme looks to build on the region’s already effective rainwater harvesting practices. “A huge portion of our efforts is centred around recycling and reusing water, as well as continuously monitoring water quality,” he explains. “We’re already doing that in our dairy farming areas, and this just extends out across a larger portion of the city.” Council is additionally investing $1.5 million into the redevelopment of Hutchison Wharf to increase its accessibility, whilst also helping to manage nearby waterways from an environmental perspective.
