Craig says they have seen an increase of almost 30 per cent in the delivery level of capital works within Council, and they will keep investing in the community through major projects to secure a bright future for the entire region. Council will also focus on diversifying the local economy to safeguard it from the inevitable fluctuations each individual industry experiences. According to Craig, this diversification will also strengthen the “whole social fabric” of the Shoalhaven community. “In five years’ time, you’re going to see a very strong city of 49 towns and villages,” Craig concludes. “Those villages are growing and have their own experiences and identities. They’re actually strengthened so that people who are either looking at moving here, investing here or even just holidaying here will have a really diverse range of experiences to choose from. And the more accessible we can make that, the more inclusive we can be as a community, the stronger we’ll be in the long-term.”
