Strong Hold | Managing Director Scott McNamara started the family owned and operated company in 2009 alongside his wife, Alison. Prior to that, he worked in general steel fabrication as a project manager for six years after completing his apprenticeship in the early 2000s. Stronghold Fabrications’ first facility was a small factory in Taren Point near Caringbah. Just 12 months into their operation, they outgrew that premises and relocated to a larger factory in nearby Bankstown, where they continued to thrive for the next five years. Only recently, they again upgraded their facility, moving to their current location in Wetherill Park. When Stronghold Fabrications commenced operations six years ago, Scott was the company’s only fabricator. Since then, the McNamaras have steadily grown the business, and today they are backed by a workforce of 18 employees consisting of skilled operators, welders and boilermakers. However, in spite of this growth, the pair have managed to retain the family-centric atmosphere they established in 2009.

This includes numerous large-scale projects that truly showcase what the company is capable of. For example, they have fabricated and supplied structural steel for several Westfield projects at various locations throughout New South Wales, including the food court extensions at Westfield Eastgardens, car park reinforcement at Westfield Warrawong, car

The Westfield Hornsby project has been the company’s largest to date, as they fabricated approximately 100 tonnes of structural steel for that job. However, they are currently in the works of supplying roughly 150 tonnes for the construction of two large warehouses, which is set to become the new flagship project for Stronghold Fabrications. Stronghold Fabrications takes great pride in not only delivering a premium product, but also in administering exceptional customer service. The company goes above and beyond to provide each and every client with “the best possible service and expert advice,” whilst also striving to provide themwith “the most cost effective method in fulfilling their structural steel requirements.” This customer commitment has earned Stronghold Fabrications a substantial amount of repeat business and word-ofmouth advertising from satisfied clients. The company joined ASI nearly three years ago and have since benefitted from that relationship by staying up to date with the latest trends and changes within the industry. Case in point, the company invested in a 12-metre spray booth extraction system shortly after moving into their currentWetherill Park facility. The cutting edge system filters and extracts paint and welding fumes to minimise the environmental impacts associated with steel fabrication. The company has also recently acquired a computerised fully automatic band saw, which allows them to cut and shape their products with pinpoint precision. “In our factory, this particular saw is very important because all of our steel is processed and cut to length through that piece of equipment,” Scott explains. “You just load the steel into it, type into the computer screen what lengths you want and it does the rest.” Moving forward, Stronghold Fabrica-

Scott says that they will be pursuing “a lot more work” in that area without compromising their ability to service their commercial and industrial clients. Beyond that, however, he indicates that he’s content with the company’s current status throughout the region. “We’ve just relocated, so we don’t plan on getting any bigger for a while,” he concludes. “Our focus is really just breaking into that residential market.”
