Chris describes the company’s relationship with the subcontractors they do call on from outside the group in the same way he describes the company’s relationships with material suppliers and other allied companies – “loyal and longstanding.” “We’ve worked with probably a dozen specific suppliers practically exclusively for many years,” he says. “We have strong relationships with them because we know we can rely on them. They will provide us with quick turnaround times when we need a project done quickly.” Over the years, Sun Engineering has become a leader in the manufacture of materials handling and process equipment for the mining industry. As the mining boom in Australia has slowed, however, Chris says clients are looking to maximise the efficiency of their current mines over opening new ones.
