We knew how to achieve that clients’ vision.” As a starting point, Hallbury’s design team utilized one of their pre-designed floor plans, called ‘the Stonehaven,’ and then customized it to match the client’s specific lifestyle needs. To tackle the severity of the slope, they came up with a three-level stepped slope that flowed with the contours of the land. That allowed them to avoid substantial site costs by eliminating a lot of the substructure and retaining walls that would have been necessary in a more standard design. “So the client was able to put more of their budget into their actual home, rather than just the site costs,” Ryan says.
