“thoughtful design and detailed planning combined with incredible craftsmanship.” They also praised REP Building and Studio Black for overcoming the challenges of a steep block through a split-level design and “consistent attention to detail.” The judges further commended the project for its “outstanding thermal performance and energy efficiency.” That performance was achieved through non-combustible, interlocking cladding panels with concealed fixings along with quality wall wraps and insulations. They also installed mechanical ventilation to the substructure, which allowed for airflow and circulation behind the cladding. To the same end, the project team also installed thermally broken double-glazed windows, solar panels, and low VOC finishes, and they solely utilised high-quality materials that were selected to stand the test of time. For his part, Robert is particularly proud of that award because of the category they won. In the future, he says REP Building is looking to do more high quality multi-unit projects, and this victory proves that the company can achieve the same quality on multi-residential projects that they can achieve on single-family homes.
