processes, being more efficient, and preparing for the challenges that are sure to come over the next five years. “With the Olympics coming up, I’m sure our clients will ask us to do something and we’ll think it’s impossible but we’ll give it a go anyway and it always works out,” she says. “We’ve had our period of rapid growth, and at the moment, it’s about stability and efficiency. We’re working on our leadership team, site teams and project managers, and doing what we do better.” Most of SJC Engineering’s work currently is commercial and industrial – they want to continue doing those projects, but they are also open to doing more public work in the days to come. “We’re doing a bit of work for the hydrogen plant in Gladstone, which has been one of the highlights of the year,” says Chris. “We have a few educational projects. They’re the better jobs to work with. We’ve done some train stations which tested our skills, and we’ve started doing more warehouse work over the past 24 months. For now, we’re satisfied with steady growth and doing what we do well.” AUGUST 2024
