An added advantage of using local products is you can get things quicker,” says Rob. With the quantity of projects coming their way, Portrait Homes needs an efficient project management system. They have chosen Procore to manage all their stakeholders through an online portal. “Everyone has the necessary information at their fingertips all the time,” says Rob. “We load all the drawings and instructions up and if there’s any missing information, we can request it and it’s all recorded. A lot of our projects aren’t simple straight up and down houses you can build in your sleep. There’s a lot of technical information that we can put on, so for example the electricians have the most recent version of the drawings at their fingertips.” The strength of Procore is as a communication tool, so everyone is working in real time, says Rob. “Before Procore if I got a revised drawing by email, I’d have to send it out to all the different vendors individually. If I forgot to send it to the door manufacturer, they may end up making the doors the wrong size.” Procore enables everyone to avoid errors and manage change, and answer questions from Precision Homes’ vendors, thus ensuring everyone’s on the same page with a current set of drawings.
