Trust and respect are the keys to building a successful homebuilding business, according to Rob. “To build people’s trust in everything we do, we aim to do in a respectful manner,” he says. “That is the cornerstone. Between myself and my supervisor Justin we have 50+ years of experience. We try to pass that on to our people and teach them our way of thinking and how to approach different problems. Quite rewarding for me to grow our people and give them new skills. That’s one of the exciting things for me.” Portrait Homes doesn’t have a lot of direct staff, relying mainly on subcontractors. “We don’t have a lot of people. We sub-contract all of our work out to specialists and manage the quality and information they receive,” says Rob. “We make it our business to ensure our trades can be efficient and they don’t have to wait for things.
