It’s an everchanging landscape we have to stay on top of and by default we’ve built really good relationships with our suppliers and trades.” Turning to the company’s team, Aaron says that Aliya Homes employees 14 people, but that number is “ever-expanding.” He says the team has a combined wealth of knowledge and experience of 150 years or more. “We define things in our process that we can make better for our clients, so we put somebody in a position and that’s their focus.” “We look for the people who are not necessarily the loudest, but who are leaders in their fields so they can bring a new process, they can bring new ideas, they can bring a fresh view on a different portion of the business.” “It’s a new team, it’s a lean team for the volume that we deal with, but it’s fun, it’s fresh, it’s supportive,” Aaron says. “We are a close-knit team.” He also describes the company culture as “incredibly inclusive.” “We have every culture, every race, religion, background in this office. Everybody gets to help shape the culture here.” As for what’s on the horizon for Aliya Homes, Aaron says, “I think we’ve pretty much nailed where we want to be. In terms of the projects that we look at, there’s probably a couple of avenues next year that we’re going to push into. It will take a few years to really push into those areas.” “One of the projects that we’ll look at next year is around the affordable housing options,” he said. “We’ll create a completely separate division for that. It will be a new stream within the business.” He also envisions “significant growth” for the company. “This year we will end up with around 80 dwellings or so. Next year we’re going to push into that 120 to 150 based on our forward inquiries, forward orders.” FEBRUARY 2024
