company with a long history in the region – in fact, their history is even longer than Baxter’s, as their roots go all the way back to 1956. Today, they are a leading specialist in extensions and new tilt up concrete panel commercial buildings, along with office fit-outs, refurbishments, and shop fittings. They provide clients with a complete commercial building solution while being very easy to work with – which is something Matt highly values in all his partnerships. Turning in-house, to the employees who make up the Baxter Engineering direct team, Matt discusses the corporate culture and the positive aspects of working for the business. He says that currently 40-50 employees make up the company’s workforce. When considering what makes Baxter Engineering a great place for employees to call home, he says, “I think it’s the atmosphere. We’ve got a lot of long timers and young blokes. We’ve got a lot of variety of staff, a variety of work.” Because it’s a family-owned business, Matt says the company is also a “family-oriented business.” He points out that the flexibility with scheduling and the ability “to rotate out and shift hours around to a certain extent” is appealing to the younger employees who are juggling family obligations like childcare. “We offer a steady place to work in the way of consistency with work and hours,” he adds. “It’s a very safe, clean working area that we provide with all the latest amenities and it’s always inviting for someone to come in.” FEBRUARY 2024
