paperless in what we do,” says Joey. “The software we use is all online. We put together a WhatsApp group with some of the local builders to get everyone chatting together as a community. We can all throw up questions on software and do networking online. We’re up for anything that works.” Their connections with the sub-trades are equally important to Joey and Miles as their connections with their staff. “Even though we changed from another builder four years ago, we wouldn’t be where we are now without that rapport that we’ve built up through the years with the suppliers and trades, and all the lessons we’ve learned working with them,” says Joey. “We definitely feel that with trades and suppliers everyone’s in it to make a dollar and it’s a win-win situation. It’s been great to keep the relationship going with a lot of the local guys.” Miles agrees, noting that now the company is at a point where they’re using the same trades on all their projects. This long-term relationship helps with pricing, communication and quality. When the marriage of contractor, sub-contractors and staff all come together well, it makes for a quality project. Joey feels this way about East Elevation Construction’s most recent one. “It’s an ideal snapshot of what we do,” he says. This duplex is the third project for this client. He involved a friend of his that is an excellent architect. The two interior designers involved with that project, are great at what they do and were involved in the project early on. “The job went really well. They were recently handed over, OCTOBER 2024
