and ready to go. We’re not sitting in an office or playing golf doing nothing and telling people things are ready when they are not. I enjoy when things are ready.” Part of the Hancocks commitment to their subcontractors is keeping things clean and safe. “We have an emphasis on having a clean and tidy site,” says Joel. “We make sure everything is well kept with no mess around. Our subcontractors enjoy working on our sites because it’s safe and there’s not a lot of mess or rubbish lying about. We’re also looking after the environment by preventing rubbish blowing around or silt and waste going down the drains.” Mark agrees. “A clean site is a site the subcontractors can make money on because they’re not tripping over rubbish. The cleaner it is, the better condition it is in the end as well,” he says. Being hands-on is another perk for Hancock Homes’ subcontractors. “Having the majority of the projects all handy - some next door to each other – means we can duck around to the site ourselves and check on the status of things,” says Jarred. “We can have a finger on the pulse of the build and our subcontractors’ needs at all times rather than checking in once a week.” This means that someone from Hancock is always available, says Joel. “You’re always dealing with one of us three. You’re not dealing with anyone else working for us. It’s always someone named Hancock. Without it being a race, we have a timeline to keep the job rolling at a good steady pace instead of having people wait until each step THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE AUSTRALIA
