Justine believes their presence on social media helps as well. They try to keep their Facebook and Instagram pages up to date and feature different products. Recently MACU Kitchens had added a new interior designer. “She’s a great asset to the team,” says Justine. “This adds reassurance with our clients’ designs because she’s there to help so they don’t get overwhelmed.” “We have good communication with our clients as well,” says Simon. “We keep them informed as to what’s going on and where their job is at. If ever there is an issue, we help them work through that and sort it out.” Good communication goes a long way with staff retention as well, says Justine. “We’ve implemented a four-day work week this year and our 17 staff members really enjoy that.” They also participate in monthly toolbox meetings and birthday celebrations. “We always try to be supportive if they have something going on in their lives. We encourage our staff to talk to us so we can have an inclusive working environment that people want to come to work to.” They have built similar longstanding relationships with their subcontractors and suppliers. “We’ve bought machinery from SCM in Italy, for example, since day one,” says Simon. “Our day-to-day products come from local companies.
