Founded in 2016 by Maureen Bishop and Terry Broadbent, Pressure Vessel Inspections (PVI) has grown from a two-person operation into one of South Australia’s leading pressure vessel inspection companies. Built on a foundation of trust, transparency, and technical precision, the Adelaide-based business now employs nine staff, including four inspectors, and serves clients ranging from small mechanical workshops to large-scale industrial operations. Though backed by many years of experience and expertise, PVI originally began relatively suddenly. Terry, a lifelong professional in metal fabrication and design verification, was working with another inspection firm when the business unexpectedly went into receivership. He was already on site with a client when the news broke, and the client simply asked, “Are you still a pressure vessel inspector?” That single question set PVI in motion. At the time, Maureen was working in her own field of clinical biochemistry and sales, and she initially managed PVI’s administration in her spare hours. Within three months, it became clear she could no longer balance two jobs, and she committed fulltime to growing the new business alongside Terry. The company’s steady expansion over the years has maintained a family-oriented culture, even as it has brought in non-family team members. For Maureen, the key drivers of the company’s success include belief and follow-through. “Always believe you can do it, but follow through,” she says. “Be true to yourself and your client. The client is always the most important part of what we do.” That philosophy is reflected in PVI’s open and transparent process, which goes beyond the technical inspection to help clients THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE AUSTRALIA
