stone manufacturers to ensure compliance with silica regulations. Many of these companies discovered that their air receivers required inspection and registration — something they had never known or understood. PVI stepped in, ultimately working with around 30 stone manufacturing businesses across South Australia. “It was a completely new industry for us,” Maureen says. “That happens more often than people think, especially when regulations change or new equipment becomes common.” The same applies to the building industry, where many tradespeople remain unaware that larger air compressors — such as those mounted on utes — require inspection and registration if they exceed 100 litres. PVI estimates that the majority are currently non-compliant simply because they only know what they know. For PVI, these gaps in knowledge are both a challenge and an opportunity to educate and expand their client base. For Maureen and Terry, the goal is to always to combine technical expertise with client-focused service. That balance has positioned PVI as one of the largest players in South Australia’s pressure vessel inspection sector, despite there being only four major competitors in the state. With much of the market still uninspected — whether through lack of awareness or deliberate avoidance — there remains significant opportunity for growth. PVI’s story is one of seizing the moment, building on trust, and refusing to cut corners when it comes to client support. “We’re here to make sure the equipment is safe, compliant, and looked after,” Maureen says. “And we’ll do whatever it takes to help our clients get there.” AUGUST 2025
