Jerome Stojanovic doesn’t play the blame game. Jerome, the director of New Classic Homes on the Gold Coast, founded his business in 2023 after being General Manager for a larger volume-based builder for 10 years. At the time, he was frustrated with the run-around clients were getting during the building process. “There was so much blaming going on back and forth that I thought the best way to do it is having one person deal with the client from start to finish,” he says. “I found that in the broader market clients weren’t having a good time using the larger builders,” he says. When people are spending that kind of money, it’s probably their largest significant purchase of their lives, and Jerome believes it should be an enjoyable experience. The builder should talk to you every day, you should be excited and involved in the project. You shouldn’t be made to feel like if you want a particular item that it’s too much effort.” Jerome prefers to work closely with his clients daily and provides a 100 percent custom experience. He takes only 8-to-10 homes a year, which allows him to spend a significant amount of time on each project. “It’s offering a building experience I didn’t think people were getting out on the market. It makes it enjoyable for them and for me,” he says. He believes that larger homebuilding companies have too many layers for a client to go through to get their home built. They might initially talk to someone on the phone, then they may go through a salesperson, and they’re relying on that salesperson to accurately communicate what they want in a contract.
