From an office point of view, Jerome believes in being mobile and able to work from any location. “We’re completely cloud based. We utilize Office 365 and QuickBooks accounting which allows me to have an account person overseas who can login and do data entry and more. It’s the same with an offshore estimator. I have that backend help.” Jerome has been in the industry 17 years, and he uses contractors he’s known more than 10 years. “It’s that relationship you build up over time. I know I can trust these people to do a great job together. If there are issues, we communicate on site, we work through it, and it’s finished to a high standard. Sticking with a contractor long term is the best way to get great service from a contractor,” he says. With a maximum of 10 houses built per year, Jerome believes it is more manageable for him to schedule the contractors in advance, so the project is not delayed waiting for them to show up. “I like working with smaller contractor crews. I like being able to talk to the person responsible for the guys on site. The owner of the business, not a supervisor. That reaps benefits on site,” says Jerome.
