Welcome to the latest issue of Construction Source Australia, the magazine that highlights the best of the best in building and building products across the country. This time out, out cover story is on the Queensland-based Neilsen Group, one of the largest independently owned concrete and quarry suppliers in the state, and a company fast approaching their 50th anniversary. To tell their story, we caught up with Sean Moroney, who took over as general manager in 2021. Sean talked to us about what drew him to the group originally – “it was the kind of business I always wanted to be part of: locally owned, deeply connected to its people, and proudly independent” – and about how those values still guide how the company operates today. Sean also talked about how the group continues to innovate and look to the future – for example, they have developed a low-carbon concrete product, achieving up to 30 per cent lower embodied carbon compared to traditional mixes. Sean explained how they achieved that “without compromising quality or performance.” Another longstanding yet always-forward-looking company is Stable Engineering Services, based out of Victoria. Since starting in 1980, they have grown from a small, hands-on operation into a nationally recognized engineering and construction firm with projects spanning mines in Western Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania. For more on that history and evolution, we spoke directly to John Buhagiar, the company’s founder and director. He talked about how the company has adapted to 40 years of market changes, changing client needs, and technological advancements – and how they are well-positioned to at least 40 more. Also featured within is Jamesco Group, based out of Melbourne. They are recognized leading experts in the region when it comes to building all types of retaining wall, known for delivering both high quality results and memorable client experiences. We spoke to founder and owner Dane James about that reputation, how they have earned it, and how they plan to maintain it. We also covered their recent work on Puffing Billy Railway project, where they demonstrated their unrivalled technical expertise and problem-solving skills. All the best, The Editorial Team We will keep adding business units that enhance our offering and separate us from our competition. “ ” Editor From The Dear Reader,
