and contractors. Hans and Bruce manage the company with a total of six core employees, each encouraged to take initiative and contribute ideas across all areas of the business. “People develop and pitch their own ideas. No one is pigeonholed,” Bruce explains. “If you run accounts and want to sell, bring it on. If you work in the store and want to demonstrate product, yes, let’s find a way.” This approach has fostered a culture of collaboration, debate, and innovation, where employees feel empowered to contribute in meaningful ways. The company’s expertise extends well beyond its product range. Both Hans and Bruce pride themselves on providing clear, practical guidance—whether to a seasoned contractor or someone new to the field. “We give solid technical advice that can be followed easily,” Hans notes. “Some of the larger companies, you ring them up for help and get a highfalutin exposé on products. We don’t do that—we go into the details of how best to use it, and that seems to work.” This ability to communicate complex solutions clearly is a hallmark of SWP’s client-first philosophy. While the company hasn’t actively pursued traditional awards, it has received substantial recognition for its technical expertise and product quality. Their products carry critical Australian certifications, including AS 4020 (drinking water safe) and AS 4654 (external waterproofing). They have also been acknowledged by the Master Builders Association for their training programs at technical colleges, and SWP ranks among the top five global sellers of Drizoro products. For Hans and Bruce, these acknowledgements serve as a more meaningful measure of success than trophies or business awards. NOVEMBER 2025
