Founded in 2000 as a metalwork company and transitioning into aluminium extrusion in 2020, the company has rapidly distinguished itself through technical expertise, hands-on leadership, and a customerfocused ethos that has fuelled its growth and reputation in the region. At the helm is Gabriel Algar, owner and director, whose journey from teenage apprentice to leader of a cutting-edge aluminium extrusion company is as remarkable as the products his team delivers. Gabriel’s story begins early. At just 13 years old, he started working for his uncle’s company, gaining experience in every aspect of metalwork—from polishing and die correcting to welding and boilermaking. These formative years instilled a strong work ethic and technical knowledge, which Gabriel carried into adulthood. As he matured in his craft, he gravitated toward design, moving to Australia to expand his career in structural and architectural solutions. This combination of hands-on experience and a design mindset would prove crucial when he launched Extrut’s Aluminium extrusion division. The company’s evolution into extrusion came at a pivotal moment. Around the time of COVID-19, Gabriel and his team won a job that proved highly profitable. Recognizing the opportunity to scale operations and reduce reliance on overseas supply chains, he invested in an extrusion press. Today, Extrut boasts the only five-inch extrusion press of its kind in Australia—a point of pride for Gabriel, who personally financed and assembled the equipment over two years.
