Trust isn’t built overnight—and in the infrastructure and utilities sector, it’s rarely built on what’s visible. For the Tasmania-based IPC Projects, trust comes from what happens below the surface: the quiet, consistent work that keeps essential systems running, and the relationships that sustain every project long after completion. Founded in 2011 by Managing Director Adam Barber, IPC Projects began as a small operation focused on water infrastructure in Tasmania. Adam’s initial entry into the field was unconventional. “During school, I was always more academic and actually hated trade, but I liked being outdoors,” he explains. “I didn’t want to go to university, so I gave plumbing a try. I did my apprenticeship, learned on the job, and spent about 11 years with the same boss before starting my own company.” Adam’s first major opportunity came when a friend invited him to join a water meter installation project in Tasmania—a first for the state. “They’d never had water meters—just a stop tap out the front of the house. My friend told me I had to have my own company to join the project, so that’s how IPC started,” he notes. After a year and a half, he moved to Brisbane, completing similar projects with Brisbane Council before returning to New South Wales, building a strong client base in utilities, government, and tier-one companies. From its beginnings, IPC has grown steadily into a respected contractor working across Tasmania, Queensland, and New South Wales. Adam says the company’s success lies in its commitment to care—for people, clients, and the work itself. “If you look after your people, they’ll look after the work,” he explains. It’s a philosophy that runs through every part of the business. THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE AUSTRALIA
