For director Robert Daoud, the journey began not with a grand plan to specialise in secondary dwellings, but through a twist of circumstance that revealed both a business opportunity and a way to serve families in need of affordable, flexible housing. “I started out focused on property development— buying, building, and selling,” Robert says. “But the market doesn’t always favour you, and we hit a point where cash flow became difficult. A neighbour approached me about building a granny flat, and at first, I wasn’t interested. I was in the development game. But I met the client, an older lady who wanted to keep her children close, and I realised how valuable this could be. That first build opened my eyes.” That first client’s neighbour quickly followed with a request of her own, and before long the small team found itself immersed in a market that seemed to answer everyone’s needs—families, investors, retirees, newlyweds. “It solved our problem with inconsistent work, but it also solved problems for clients who needed affordable housing solutions. We put our attention there, and here we are 20 years later,” Robert explains.
