Sydney is clear that growth for its own sake is not the goal – what matters is doing the work right, keeping within their capabilities, and continuing to look after the people who depend on them. “We want to bring on new clients, as long as we don’t get so big that we can’t handle what we’re trying to do,” he says. “Our goal is to keep the working within our capabilities, pay our way, look after our workers, look after our clients – and hopefully the government keeps putting out tenders and we win some more big contracts.” Mark shares that ambition. He says that while they “definitely want to grow,” it’s not just because they want to make more money – it’s because they want to provide more opportunity. “We’d love to take on a larger workforce and bring up more apprentices,” he says. “That’s why we want to grow – so we can train up more people and get them into jobs. That’s what motivates us more than anything. We want to make a difference in our community.” JUNE 2026
